A New Preschool in Levanto
Corbo Group is developing a new preschool in Levanto, set within a green landscape and funded through Italy's National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP), under the “Education and Research” programme. Designed with sustainability, accessibility and children's wellbeing in mind, the new facility will provide a welcoming environment that supports early childhood learning and development.
A new preschool is taking shape within Levanto's educational campus, between Via Martiri della Libertà and Via Galli, designed to integrate naturally into its surroundings. Its understated, contemporary architecture embraces the existing green landscape, creating new opportunities for learning, outdoor activities and community engagement.
The architectural concept takes its inspiration from the surrounding meadow. The compact, partially underground building is designed to maximise natural light, while its roof extends down to ground level, creating an accessible pathway that connects the building with the landscape. Each classroom maintains a direct relationship with the outdoors, bringing natural light, fresh air and greenery into children's everyday learning experiences.
The preschool comprises five classrooms, each with direct access to dedicated outdoor areas. At the heart of the building, a flexible, multifunctional communal space accommodates educational activities and opportunities for children to interact and socialise. The accessible roof also serves as an outdoor play area, reached via ramps and a lift, ensuring that children of all abilities can enjoy the facilities.
Sustainable Architecture
The building has been designed to combine indoor comfort with environmental responsibility. Provisions for a future photovoltaic system, high-performance construction materials and building systems designed to improve indoor air quality and energy efficiency all contribute to the project's sustainability objectives, in line with the NRRP framework.

Inclusion and Safety
Every space has been carefully designed to create a safe, accessible and welcoming environment. Step-free circulation routes, impact-absorbing flooring and bright, protected learning areas support children's safety and independence. The result is an inclusive educational setting where children can explore, play and learn with confidence.

The new preschool will strengthen Levanto's educational campus, enhance services for local families and contribute to the preservation and appreciation of the Ligurian coastal landscape. The project represents a lasting investment in the community's educational and environmental future, bringing together thoughtful architecture, accessibility and sustainability to create a place where future generations can thrive.
