The new “Enrico Medi” Primary School is conceived as a welcoming, accessible and safe neighbourhood educational hub, providing children, teachers and families with spaces designed around their needs. The school is being relocated to a more accessible, better-oriented site, creating a more comfortable and supportive environment for everyday school life.
The building is organised around an internal courtyard, conceived as a natural extension of the learning environment. At the entrance, a central Agora serves as a welcoming and intuitive gathering space, encouraging interaction, participation and a sense of community. Filled with natural light and thoughtfully integrated into the surrounding hilly landscape, the school's architecture responds sensitively to its setting.
Classrooms and activity spaces are designed to accommodate different learning activities throughout the school day, encouraging collaboration and independence. Abundant natural daylight, landscaped areas and a strong connection between indoor and outdoor spaces create an environment that supports more flexible and inclusive learning experiences.
Sustainability and Innovation
The timber structure, an 81 kW photovoltaic system and solar thermal technology contribute to reducing energy consumption and environmental impact. Rainwater harvesting and mechanical ventilation with heat recovery further enhance the building's environmental performance, supporting indoor comfort and air quality.

Safety and Urban Integration
The new school occupies a 6,600 m² site, designed to provide convenient access and safe circulation. Entrances are set back from the road, while clearly defined pedestrian routes help ensure safe and orderly movement throughout the grounds. The building integrates harmoniously into the surrounding neighbourhood, establishing a direct connection with the green spaces and contributing to the quality of the local urban environment.
