The New “Dante Alighieri” Primary School

Corbo Group is delivering a new primary school within Mapello's educational campus, featuring ten classrooms, flexible learning spaces and shared facilities. The project will provide a modern, safe and sustainable environment for pupils and staff.

The Municipality of Mapello is completing its new educational campus with the construction of the “Dante Alighieri” Primary School, replacing the existing building. The project represents a significant improvement in educational infrastructure, providing a larger, safer and more sustainable learning environment designed to meet the needs of the local community.

The new school is located within a connected educational campus, with safe, dedicated pedestrian routes providing easy access. Set in a green, sunlit area, away from potential sources of disturbance, the building forms part of a cohesive educational complex alongside the sports hall, school administration offices and secondary school.

A comparative assessment of refurbishment and new construction led to the decision to develop an entirely new building. The new facility provides approximately 2,000 m² of usable floor space, compared with 1,200 m² in the existing school, offering more spacious classrooms, healthier indoor environments and energy-efficient building systems. Importantly, this approach allows teaching activities to continue without interruption during construction.

Sustainability and Wellbeing

A high-performance building envelope, mechanical ventilation with heat recovery efficiency exceeding 70%, and a 76.8 kW photovoltaic system help reduce energy consumption and environmental impact. Thermal comfort, abundant natural daylight and carefully designed acoustic conditions contribute to a healthier, more comfortable environment for pupils and staff throughout the school day.

Health and Safety at the Forefront

Separate circulation routes, compliant safety barriers, radon protection measures and a rainwater harvesting system for landscape irrigation are integral features of the project. Together, these solutions reflect a comprehensive approach to building safety, health and environmental responsibility, placing the wellbeing of pupils and teaching staff at the centre of the design.

The result is an efficient, welcoming educational facility that completes the school campus on Via del Lazzarino, connecting it with the nearby sports centre and local services. The project represents a long-term investment in the community, improving everyday life for families while supporting a more sustainable, inclusive and community-focused approach to education.
